Biographical/Historical Sketch
Karen Gottlieb Stone is a photographer and writer who contracted multiple sclerosis. From 1990 -1999, she wrote a column for the Albuquerque Journalentitled "Meeting the Challenge," and in 1997 her book, Awakening to Disability: Nothing About Us Without Us, was published.
Scope and Content Note
This collection contains photocopies of articles written by Karen Gottlieb Stone, primarily her column from the Albuquerque Journal entitled "Meeting the Challenge." The articles provide a personal perspective on disability, and occasionally address issues relating to the Disability Rights movement. In addition, there are occasional articles on various other subjects as well as occasional articles or editorials written by others about Ms. Stone. It also contains a copy of her book, Awakening to Disability: Nothing About Us Without Us.
