Historical/Biographical Sketch
Charles W. Fornoff was born in Pana, Illinois on June 25th, 1900. He received his A.B., A.M., Ph.D., and J.D. from the University of Illinois. He was admitted to the bar in 1932 and practiced law in Pana from 1932 to 1936. He held many teaching positions at a variety of Universities. He came to UT in 1939 as Associate Professor of Law. In 1941, he was appointed Acting Dean. In 1945, he was made Dean and full professor. He retired from the deanship in 1960 and from teaching in 1969. He published numerous articles and was given many honors, including that of Professor Emerita in 1970. Charles W. Fornoff died February 5, 1982.
Scope and Content Note
This collection contains papers relating to the life and career of Charles W. Fornoff and his wife, Inda. The material is arranged by topic. Included is the Fornoff family Bible, Inda Fornoff’s thesis, Charles Fornoff’s Sunday School awards, and material about Charles’ career as dean of the UT College of Law.
