Laura Keller (M.A. English University of Toledo, 2000) is a lecturer in the Composition program. For the last three years she has directed the First-Year Writing Contest, and she is active in the Composition Colloquium. Her M.A. academic focus was Toni Morrison and notions of circularity. Her other research interests include: the theory of Intertextuality; deconstruction of the American Dream; Hemingway, Joyce Carol Oates, Flannery O'Connor, Sherwood Anderson, and other writers who embrace the notion that: "It was the truths that made the people grotesques." She spends much of her time scouring the Underground for interesting films (Independent and otherwise) and for great Alt. Country and Americana music. She has two children – Emily Rose, who is 11, and Jack Wyatt, 3. When her son begins school, she anticipates pursuing a Ph.D. – Modernism, Film, American Studies – or maybe not. Her second home is a green mountain in Tennessee.
