Robert Imbur (B.A. 1994, M.F.A. 2001, University of Notre Dame) is a Lecturer in the composition program. His current research interests focus on the shifts in pedagogy and assessment that student writers experience as they transition from high school to college. Bob received a 2003 Teacher Creativity Grant from the Lilly Endowment in support of his historical research and fiction writing in the Lake Erie islands. Bob's novel, Vacationland, is set on Middle Bass Island and Put-in-Bay, and his essays about the islands have been published in the Toledo Blade. Bob served as an Editorial Assistant for the Notre Dame Review, and as an undergraduate he was the Drum Major of the Notre Dame Marching Band (back in the days when the football team was still good). Bob has recently been fascinated with Scottish wit ranging from Robert Burns to Billy Connolly as he attempts to better decipher the unique “patter” of his new wife, a Glasgow native.
