The Ceramics Studio Concentration teaches the ceramics fine arts process. This includes the following: the fabrication process of hand building (coil, slab, pinch), the potter’s wheel, and the use of plaster molds, the firing process of high-fire (.2380 F) and low fire (1800 F) kilns, the exploration of oxidation reduction, and special firing techniques, (raku, luster, low-fire glazes), a basic understanding of clay and glaze materials, and how they react in the firing process, and to develop and instill in the student the skills, knowledge, craftsmanship, and awareness to function as a ceramic artist.
