- Dr. John Gray and Brenda Leady were Readers for the 2008 Advanced Placement Exam. Over 150,000 exams were graded by 400 faculty members brought into Louisville, Kentucky from all over the world. (posted June 2008)
- Dr. John Plenefisch was inducted as an Honorary member of Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) at the spring induction ceremony of the UT chapter of the national pre-professional healthcare society. Dr. Patrica Komuniecki, Department Chair, was previosuly honored by AED in spring 2005. (posted May 2007)
- Dr. Douglas Leaman was recognized withthe UT Outstanding Research Award in April 2007. (posted April 2007)
- Dr. Brian Ashburner was recognized as a College of Arts and Sciences Master Teacher (2007-2009) in April 2007. (posted April 2007)
- Dr. Richard Komuniecki, Distinguished University Professor, UT Biological Sciences, has been selected as the first Joan L. and Julius H. Jacobson II Endowed Professor. A reception was held September 8, 2006. For more information on Dr. Komuniecki's research click here. (posted September 2006)
- Dr. John Plenefisch was appointed Associate Chair for Biological Sciences starting in Fall 2006. (posted July 2006)
- Dr. Sally Harmych (Ph.D. UT'00) will be returning to the department as a Lecturer effective August 2006. (posted July 2006)
- Ms. Kathleen Kosinski (MS UT'05) is a Visiting Assitant Insturctor in the department. (posted July 2006)
