Pre-Professional Programs

Students interested in pursuing a career in the health care area such as medical school, osteopathic medicine, veterinary medicine, dental school or physician's assistant programs typically major in biology. Specialized advising is available from the pre-professional advisor of Arts and Sciences (Ms. Sharon Schnarre, phone 530-2102 or e-mail sschnar@utnet.utoledo.edu). It is recommended that pre-professional students meet with the pre-professional advisor early in the freshman year. They should also see their biology advisor (and/or Honors advisor) to chart the best sequence of courses to prepare them for their chosen field. Many pre-professional students are involved with the honors program, Salford Exchange program, undergraduate research, and Alpha Epsilon Delta (AED) the pre-medical honorary.
