Dancing Wheels visits University of Toledo

On Tuesday, January 20, 2004, the Cleveland-based dance troupe Dancing Wheels gave a lecture, workshop and performance in Studio Theatre, in the Centre for Performing Arts.  This amazing opportunity was co-sponsored by the Disability Studies Program, The Department of Theatre and Film, and The Office of Accessibility.

15 students, faculty, staff, and community members participated in the two-hour workshop for stand up and sit down professional and amateur dancers.

Over 170 people were present for the two hour performance.  Students, faculty, staff, and community members, including a local Girl Scout troop, enjoyed watching, and sometimes participating with, the three-member performance.  Dang Ngoc (Mac) Hoang, Melaina Louise, and Dancing Wheels founder Mary Verdi-Fletcher dazzled the audience with their stand-up and sit-down dancing.

After the performance, the Disability Studies Program and Law & Social Thought Program invited everyone to celebrate the newly approved concentration in Disability Studies in the Law & Social Thought Program.
