Graduate Assistantships at the University of Toledo

FOREIGN LANGUAGE GRADUATE APPLICANTS SOUGHT

The Department of Foreign Languages at The University of Toledo is accepting applications from qualified undergraduate students for graduate assistantships (including computer lab assistantships) in French, German, and Spanish.

Graduate assistantships provide a stipend, currently at $7,200.00, carry a waiver of tuition and other fees, and offer a health insurance subsidy. Typically, graduate assistants teach one lower-level language course per quarter under faculty supervision.

The department currently offers graduate programs leading to the degrees of Master of Arts in French, German, and Spanish, as well as a program leading to a Master of Arts and Education degree. For such participants, the Graduate School at The University of Toledo offers partial tuition waivers. For more information, please contact the Department of Foreign Language at the address below.

Applicants must present an undergraduate major or the equivalent in the language of interest and satisfactorily complete a minimum of 18 graduate-level credit hours in the language plus an additional 12 hours in either the major language or in approved cognate courses in related areas. Students must also pass a comprehensive examination based on a reading list and demonstrate a reading knowledge of a foreign language other than the major language.

Applications with supporting materials should be submitted by early spring for consideration during the next academic year. For information and application forms, contact:
