History Day Judges Needed!
September 2007
Dear Historians and Educators:
Each year, hundreds of students from across our district travel to the University of Toledo’s campus to compete in the Ohio History Day competition. National History Day is a yearlong program where students choose a topic, tied to the annual theme, and create historical papers, dramatic performances, creative documentaries, museum-like exhibits and websites. Their projects are based in primary and secondary source research and reflect their analysis of the historical topic.
The 2008 History Day theme is “Conflict & Compromise in History.” District 1 will hold its leg of the competition on March 15, 2008 at Rocket Hall on the campus of The University of Toledo. The competition starts around 8:00 AM with registration, and will conclude sometime in the early afternoon with the awards ceremony. Lunch will be provided for the judges while they fill out their evaluation forms and determine the top projects.
If you would be willing to judge, please fill out the attached form. We will send you additional information as History Day approaches. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, or browse the website at www.ohiohistory.org/historyday.
Sincerely,
Carl Schaffer
