Public Outreach
Lake Erie Center researchers, graduate students, and staff members periodically participate in outreach activities with local students and teachers.  Outreach typically includes researcher shadowing, teacher workshops, festival displays, and participation in school activities. 

Recent LEC Outreach
  • "Nature on Maumee Bay" Art Contest (Spring/Summer 2009)
  • Hosted two Student Interns from West Side Montessori Middle School – Stepien Lab (April 2009)
  • Hosted biology students from Start High School for field trip (March 2009)
  • Hosted three Student Interns, St. Johns Jesuit, Notre Dame Academy, St. Ursula Academy – Stepien Lab (April - May 2009)
  • Rain Garden Installed by Ottawa Hills Middle School First Lego League Team (Fall 2008)
  • "Natrure on Maumee Bay" Art Contest (Spring/Summer 2008)
  • Advanced Wonders of Watersheds Educator Workshop (July 2008)
  • Earth Voyager Festival (June 2008)
  • Portage River Watershed Congress  (May 2008)
