Official Photo Contest Rules

“The Nature of Maumee Bay”

This contest is for amateur photographers, focusing on the natural systems, plant, and animal life of the local Maumee Bay watershed.

Winning entries will be enlarged, printed on quality paper, professionally framed, and will be displayed in the Lake Erie Center lobby/gallery and on our website, www.lakeerie.utoledo.edu.  Photos must have been taken between October 1, 2008 and October 30, 2009 to be eligible.  All entries must be submitted as digital prints in JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), GIF (.gif), or PNG (.png) formats, and should be of sufficient resolution to be enlarged and printed using common computer software and printers.

Minimal digital manipulation (i.e. contrast, sharpening, etc) is permitted. Up to five (5) photos will be accepted from each entrant. Photos become the property of the Lake Erie Center and will not be returned. Entrant’s name on the entry form constitutes consent to use the photo by the Lake Erie Center and may be placed on the World Wide Web and/or on printed materials such as brochures, etc. All human subjects must have approved the submission.

The Lake Erie Center reserves the right to disqualify entries or cancel this contest without notice.

There will be three (3) entry categories based upon age.  The first category is open to amateur photographers twelve (12) years of age or younger, a second teen category for entrants of thirteen (13) to seventeen (17) years of age, and a third category for all adults over eighteen (18) years of age as of the contest’s deadline, October 30, 2009.  All entries must be received at the Lake Erie Center by 4:00 pm on Friday, October 30th, 2009.  Entries must be mailed electronically (emailed) to the following email address: meredith.gray@utoledo.edu. Please contact Meredith at 419-530-8361 if you do not have access to e-mail and wish to make another arrangement for your submission/s.

Judge’s decisions will be final.  The contest winners will be informed via telephone or email, and awards presented at the Lake Erie Center.
