Ed Levy

Ed Levy is a guitar Lecturer at the University of Toledo. His responsibilities include teaching applied lessons and class guitar for non-majors, and directing the classical guitar ensemble.  Prior to his 1999 appointment at UT, Mr. Levy earned a B.A. Music at the State University of New York College at Oswego and an M.M. in guitar performance at Bowling Green State University. 

He has studied with David Baker, Howard Alden, Gene Bertoncini, Jack Wilkins, Peter Bernstein, Walt Weiskopf, and extensively with Mike Longo, Alice Artzt, Chris Buzzelli, Rick Balestra, Joseph Jewell, and Gene Parker.  Mr. Levy has written articles for Guitar Player Magazine and has recorded instructional CD¹s for Truefire, a company devoted to guitar pedagogy.  As an active freelance musician in the Toledo and surrounding areas including Ann Arbor and Detroit, he has performed with such diverse artists and ensembles as the Toledo Symphony, The Murphy¹s Place Orchestra, Lima Symphony, Jon Hendricks, Joel Grey, Rita Moreno, Tim Ries, Jim Snidero, Giacomo Gates, Rodney Whitaker, Johnny Trudell and many others.  A performance highlight included a tour with Jon Hendricks in May 2002 which included performances at the Sorbonne and Club de Lombards in Paris along with a BBC international broadcast recording throughout Europe.
