Dyrk Ashton

Assistant Professor
Film/Cinema Studies
Dyrk Ashton holds a PhD in Film Studies from Bowling Green State University, as well as a BFA and a masters degree in film production from The Ohio State University.  He has extensive professional experience producing commercials, short films, industrials, low budget features and a spec pilot for television.  Dyrk has spent six years in Los Angeles, and has been a "jack-of-all-trades" in the film business, working as an editor, assistant editor, location sound recordist, videographer, cinematographer, assistant director, production manager, and SAG/AFTRA actor.  He has written spec scripts for many years and has pitched projects to a number of Hollywood production companies.  Dyrk has taught a variety of production and screenwriting courses at The University of Toledo but currently concentrates mostly in the areas of film history, theory and criticism.
