Edmund Lingan

Edmund B. Lingan moved to Toledo in August 2007 to begin working at the University of Toledo Department of Theatre and Film, and Bat Boy: The Musical marks his premiere work as a director at UT.  Before moving to UT, Edmund lived in New York City, where he directed several productions, including Dr. Faustus: Occult Remix (Baruch College Performing Arts Center, New York, NY, 2006), Family Idol (Bernie West Theatre, New York, NY, 2004), This is the Play (One Arm Red, outdoor performance for D.U.M.B.O. Art Under the Bridge Festival, Brooklyn, NY, 2004), Balance? (One Arm Red, RedLab Theater, Brooklyn , NY , 2004), Boxing Between Friends (Altered Stages Theatre Company, New York , NY 2001),  and Godgoo (Atlantic Studio Theatre, New York, NY, 1999).

Edmund also enjoys directing staged readings—his favorite being two plays by Aleister Crowley entitled The God-Eaters and The Mother’s Tragedy (The Martin E. Segal Theatre, New York, NY, 1998).  In 2009, Edmund will direct Lynn Nottage’s Crumbs From the Table of Joy for the UT Department of Theatre and Film, and will also direct Eric Idle’s farce, Pass the Butler, at the Toledo Repertoire Theatre.  Edmund would like to thank his incredible cast and production team, his son, Jude, and, most of all, his wife, Risa Beth Cohen, for her seemingly endless love, support, and kindness.
