UT Theatre Designs Make Splash on World Stage
Two designs of recent Theatre and Film guest artist Marketa Fantova appeared in the US exhibit at The 2007 Prague Quadriennale, held June 14 - 24, 2007 in Prague, Czech Republic.  The event is an international exhibition of scenography and theatre architecture.
60 countries submitted an exhibit on a theme of their choice.  The US exhibit theme (designed and organized by USITT - the United States Institute of Theatre Technology) was New Voices, New Visions: Out of the Box. The US jury chose to include Fantova’s designs for the 2006 UT Theatre & Film production of The Dragon.
Marketa's original designs, as well as production photos of the UT show were showcased on one of the exhibit's panels, with one of the costumes from the show (Dyrk Ashton's Dragon 3 costume) hanging overhead.
UT Theatre & Film Department Chair, Holly Monsos, was in attendance at PQ, along with 5,000 other theatre professionals from all over the world.  Nearly 23,000 people visited the exhibition during the 10-day event.  For more information about PQ itself, go to http://www.pq.cz/en/.  For more exciting out-of-the-box theatre, join the Department of Theatre and Film for its 2007-2008 season: Voices from the Margins.
