HERE IS WHAT OUR BUSINESS STUDENTS SAY ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES...
"I attended the job fair in the Spring of 2009, which is how I got my internship. The job fair is a great way to get your name out there and to talk with potential employers. There are many benefits to doing an internship: one being that you actually get the experience in the field that you want to go in to, another is being able to put what you learned in class into the real world. This internship was a great opportunity and I am very thankful for it."
-Renee, May 2010 Graduate
Human Resource Management
"My internship at Pricewaterhouse Coopers was a great experience because it provided me with a realistic view of what a career in public accounting is actually like. I was also fortunate enough to be offered a full time position that will start in the fall of 2011. Therefore, I consider my internship to be one of the most significant components of my college career."
-Shannon, May 2010 Graduate
Accounting
"The Business Career Programs office helped me find my current internship at Calphalon through the spring job fair. Since starting my internship, I have been learning the do's and don'ts of HR and have been able to witness first hand how HR works in a real business setting outside the classroom. I have been give a lot of responsibility and experience which assures me that I am in the right field of study. I cannot wait to graduate in May and take on a full time position as an HR Representative!"
-Brittany, May 2010 Graduate

"I highly recommend that each and every student try and go out on at least one internship or co-op during the course of their Undergraduate program. I have been lucky in that I have worked on two different co-ops and have been able to see how what I'm learning in class applies to the real world in different companies. The Business Career Programs provided me access to the Job Fair, which granted me the interview with Marathon Oil Corporation, with whom I am currently interning with in Findlay, Ohio."
-Ian, May 2011 Graduate

"Co-ops and internships are a very important part of college, and they give students a chance to learn more in their field than you could ever learn in a 16 week class. Real life experience will not only help you obtain a job after graduation, but it will also help to reassure that you have chosen the right major. Internships and co-ops could even lead to permanent employment with a company of your dreams. My internship all started from a mock interview with the Business Career Programs office, and I am very grateful to all of the opportunities they give business students to locate perfect internships. I would highly recommend that students utilize all of the opportunities that the business career program provides. The University of Toledo is lucky to have such a great program in service!"
-Megan, May 2010 Graduate

"Overall this internship was a great learning experience. I was able to travel with the different territory managers and see how each of them approached the process of building customer relationships. I was also able to fine tune my communication skills by asking these customers about the industry, how their business was changing and other various questions. Internships are a great experience for students to network as they prepare for their future after graduation. Students are able to apply their skills that they learn in the classroom as well as learn new skills. It is also a great way for an individual to hone in on which industries are of interest and which ones are not. "
-Lisa, December 2009 Graduate

"The Business Career Programs Office has helped me with my internship by setting up the interview and keeping me aware of the events that I needed to be at. The mock interview day was very helpful as are the communications sent from the office."

"I believe that an internship provides the best way for a student to receive real hands-on training and experience in his/her degree field. An internship/co-op can reveal how a real company works and how their knowledge will apply to a job. The classroom cannot provide such a culmination of learning experiences on a broad level as an internship can provide. I believe that the Business Career Program and the efforts of Terribeth Gordon-Moore provide an excellent opportunity for students to find internships and jobs. I am nothing but impressed with the amount and diversity of internships, co-ops, part-time and full-time positions that are relayed to prospective students through the Business Career Programs Office."
-Brent, May 2009 Graduate

"The main benefit of an internship is the experience; nothing is better than working in a field that you are most comfortable with, take this as a blessing that you even got the chance to obtain an internship. Another benefit is the networking. It is great getting the opportunity to work with other people in the business world who are motivated and focused on succeeding,it is also nice being known throughout the office as a person not just an intern. Lastly, the assignments definitely put you in real life situations where others are relying on you to get things done and in a timely matter, this is where you truly get your chance to shine."
-Clarence, May 2010 Graduate

"Internships are an opportunity to experience first hand the requirements that are needed to succeed in a professional career. They not only help fine-tune current skills, but also help strengthen weaknesses. Due to my internship, I have a greater understanding of the professional industry and what is expected of me to be successful. If it were not for the positive reinforcement by The University of Toledo to experience an internship, I would never have been as concrete with my desired career path."
-Michael Schneider, May 2010 Graduate

"There are many benefits that come from working at an internship. As an older student who was a stay-at-home mom, it has allowed me to re-enter the work force at a company and with a supervisor who is dedicated to helping me succeed. Having the potential positions emailed by Dr. Gordon-Moore allowed me to search for opportunities that would reflect my career goals."

Putting yourself steps ahead of your peers in the eyes of future employers is priceless, and Business Career Programs made it easy for me to find something relevant to what I want to do in my career through frequent email updates on internship opportunities. I've obtained both of my internships through replying to emails, and they both have proved to be essential in my development as a young business professional."

"Internship experience is invaluable to the collegiate educational experience. Having the opportunity to apply the concepts and skills that we learn in the classroom within an organization is an immensely effective method to develop those skills as well as gain practical real-world experience. While I was searching for prospective employers, most of my contacts come through the Business Career Programs office from either the job fair or direct informational emails from Dr. Terribeth Gordon-Moore. I am very appreciative for the work they do and the assistance they gave me in finding an internship and the support they continue to give me as I search for a full-time position."

"By participating in an internship. I feel that you are able to set yourself apart from other students, and really gain the experience in your chosen field. Professors are excellent at explaining what needs to happen, but the only way to gain experience is by actually working within your chosen field. Everyday is a learning process in which you look forward to something new and exciting. The Business Career Programs office encouraged students to perform internships by bringing in a lot of large companies to the campus. By taking BUAD 2000 and BUAD 3000, these courses prepared me in gaining the success of achieving a position in today's work environment!"
-Michael, December 2009 Graduate

"Internships will benefit you because it not only gives you the experience of actually working in your field, but it shows you exactly what it is like to be taking your education and putting it to use. The Business Career Programs really helped me because without the job fair, I believe that I would not have found this internship and would not have gained the experience of working in my field of study."
