The Post-Doctoral Bridge Program is designed to develop academically qualified faculty (SA) to teach in an institution accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). By completing a Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program a non-business scholar becomes significantly more competitive when applying for faculty positions at AACSB-accredited business schools.

The University of Toledo College of Business and Innovation's Post-Doctoral Bridge program offers modules on current research in Technology Management, Service Operations Management, Supply Chain Management along with other business functional areas based on the interests of the participants.  In our program, we stress the cross functional nature of Technology Management across business functional areas. Students receive training to be able to do research in areas including:

  • Supply Chain Management
  • Operations Management
  • Technology Management
  • Information Systems
  • Other Business Functional Areas

Duration
For the benefit and convenience of participants, the program is delivered primarily through distance learning from July 2019 through August 2019. It provides in-depth course work in Research Methods, Multivariate Statistical Methods, basic management functions, and seminars/workshops on current research in OM/Manufacturing, Supply Chains, and Information Technology, as well as a workshop on teaching approaches in business schools and communication skills. Upon completion of the program, the College of Business and Innovation will remain engaged with participants helping develop student-mentor research projects even after program completion.

By design, completing a Post-Doctoral Bridge to Business Program will make non-business scholars more competitive when applying for faculty positions at AACSB-accredited business schools. AACSB's endorsement of these programs allows program graduates hired by an AACSB school to receive the same initial qualification status as do graduates of a AACSB accredited business doctoral program.

AACSB's endorsement ensures each program will be rigorous to effectively prepare both experienced and new doctoral faculty from non-business academic disciplines. The programs will serve as a bridge to facilitate the transition of scholars so they can efficiently pursue faculty positions in management education in business schools, which are increasing in recent years while the number of faculty positions in other disciplines is declining.

Furthermore, The University of Toledo's program faculty not only teaches, but mentors candidates so they have the optimum opportunity for having their research published and to make a successful career transition.

The eligibility requirements for entry into the program include an earned doctorate with an established ability to conduct research. While other disciplines will be considered, the preferred disciplines include:

  • Statistics
