Matt Schroeder was named executive vice president for finance and administration, and chief financial officer in July 2019. He oversees the University’s offices of Finance; Budget and Planning; Facilities and Construction; Auxiliaries; Information Technology; Human Resources; Public Safety; and Internal Audit and Compliance.

Previously, Schroeder had served as the President’s chief of staff as a member of the senior leadership team focused on leading strategic priorities and special projects, as well as overseeing government relations and the University’s response to critical issues.

Prior to his August 2015 appointment, Schroeder served as the chief operating officer of The University of Toledo Foundation where he developed and implemented policies and procedures to improve efficiencies, controls and overall customer service. He served as a liaison to the Foundation Board of Trustees and increased scholarship and endowment fund utilization, among other achievements.

He also served as the Foundation’s vice president of real estate and business development for eight years, during which time he led the redevelopment of the southwest corner of Main Campus, helped to transform 230 acres of the Health Science Campus, managed all facets of the University’s more than $50 million non-academic real estate portfolio, and more.

Schroeder is a member of the NW Ohio Tech Fund II ProMedica board and has served on the board of directors for the American Red Cross Greater Toledo Area Chapter, the board of directors for the Lucas County Economic Development Corporation and the review and scoring committee of the Ohio Department of Development Job Ready Sites.

Schroeder received his master of business administration from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business and his bachelor of business management from The University of Toledo College of Business and Innovation.
