LENT - 1010 INTRODUCTION TO LAW ENFORCEMENT
[3 hours] The criminal justice system is introduced as well as the law enforcement field. The history and philosophy of federal, state, county and municipal agencies will be studied.


LENT - 1050 HUMAN RELATIONS
[3 hours] Introduction to community policing concepts, community relations problems, policies and practices as they apply to law enforcement agencies and personnel.


LENT - 1210 CONSTITUTIONAL LAW
[3 hours] A comprehensive study and analysis of the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution and its affect on the administration of justice.


LENT - 1220 CRIMINAL CODE OF OHIO
[3 hours] The statutes of Ohio relating to crime and the elements necessary for establishing and providing proof of crimes are studied.


LENT - 1240 PATROL TECHNOLOGY
[3 hours] Patrol, patrol operations, tactics, equipment and unusual occurrences are studied. Prerequisite: LENT 1010


LENT - 2100 SPECIAL PROBLEMS/LAW ENFORCEMENT
[3 hours] Introduction to problems that affect law enforcement organizations and personnel. Topics covered include cultural sensitivity, selection training, police deviance, divorce, suicide, use of force, complaints, and additional topics introduced by the instructor or students. Prerequisite: LENT 1010


LENT - 2110 POLICE ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
[3 hours] An introduction to principles governing the organization, structure and administration of law enforcement organizations. Prerequisite: LENT 1010


LENT - 2210 CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION I
[3 hours] Introduction to the processes, theories, and principles of criminal investigation. Methods of gathering information, report writing, interview/interrogation strategies, surveillance, search warrant information, affidavit preparation and execution are studied.


LENT - 2220 LAWS OF EVIDENCE
[3 hours] A thorough study of the evidence rules with specific emphasis on the application of these rules in preparing and presenting evidence.


LENT - 2260 FIREARMS
[3 hours] A basic course in fundamentals of pistolcraft including safety procedures for the handgun and related equipment and introduction to the proper handling of the shotgun. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Police Academy Option


LENT - 2270 DEFENSIVE DRIVING
[1 hour] An introduction to defensive driving principles and tactics. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Police Academy Option


LENT - 2280 UNARMED SELF DEFENSE
[2 hours] This course includes fundamentals of self defense techniques. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Police Academy Option


LENT - 2290 CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION II
[3 hours] An introduction to the crime scene, including methods of searching, photography, sketching, and gathering of physical evidence. Fingerprint analysis. Methods utilized in drug investigations and development of information sources are studied. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Police Academy Option or Permission of Department Chairperson/Instructor


LENT - 2300 TRAFFIC ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
[3 hours] This is a general course in accident investigation techniques. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Police Academy Option


LENT - 2940 LAW ENFORCEMENT INTERNSHIP
[3 hours] Students with advanced standing will be placed in local law enforcement agencies for observational experiences under direction of qualified personnel. Prerequisite: Permission of Instructor


LENT - 2990 INDEPENDENT STUDY
[3 hours] Supervised independent study. Prerequisite: Permission of Instructor
