NURA - 1100 NURSING CONCEPTS FOR PRACTICE
[3 hours] Introduces Orem's theory and the nursing process, unifying concepts in the nursing program. Emphasizes broad concepts common to nursing practice: legal and ethical issues, cultural diversity, communication and community health. Prerequisite: Admission to Assoc. Degree Nursing Program Corequisite: NURA 1110, 1120, 1130


NURA - 1110 FUNDAMENTALS OF NURSING
[1 hour] This course focuses on principles of pharmacology, calculation of dosages and solutions using the Label Factor Method, and administration of oral, topical, and injectable medications to children and adults. Prerequisite: Admission to Assoc. Degree Nursing Program Corequisite: NURA 1100, 1120, 1130


NURA - 1120 NURSING CARE OF THE OLDER ADULT
[2 hours] Age related and pathological changes of aging. Includes nursing care approaches for older patients with health deviations. Prerequisite: Admission to Assoc. Degree Nursing Program Corequisite: NURA 1100, 1110, 1130


NURA - 1130 CLINICAL PRACTICUM I
[2 hours] Psychomotor skills are taught in the college laboratory and applied in long term care settings. Provision of care with gerontological patients and psychomotor skill development is emphasized. Prerequisite: Admission to Assoc. Degree Nursing Program Corequisite: NURA 1100, 1110, 1120


NURA - 1210 ADULT HEALTH DEVIATIONS I
[3 hours] The focus of this course is on the adult with varying medical-surgical self-care deficits. Orem's universal requisites of food, water, elimination, and activity are addressed. Prerequisite: NURA 1100, 1110, 1120, 1130; TSBS 1110, 1120 Corequisite: NURA 1220, 1230


NURA - 1220 ADULT HEALTH DEVIATIONS II
[3 hours] Utilizes Orem's theory and nursing process as a framework for providing care for adults with health deviations affecting O2CO2 exchange and oxygen transport. Alterations in respiratory, cardiac and circulatory function are emphasized. Prerequisite: TSBS 1110, 1120; NURA 1100, 1110, 1120, 1130 Corequisite: NURA 1230, 1210


NURA - 1230 CLINICAL PRACTICUM II
[3 hours] Clinical practice involves caring for adults in structured settings experiencing acute/chronic health deviations. Advanced psychomotor skills instruction will precede clinical application. Principles of teaching/learning are utilized. Prerequisite: NURA 1100, 1110, 1120, 1130; TSBS 1110 and 1120 Corequisite: NURA 1210, 1220


NURA - 2100 GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT IN THE FAMILY
[3 hours] Orem's developmental requisites will be utilized to study growth and development from conception through middle adulthood. Focus is on health promotion and normalcy. Prerequisite: TSBS 2100; NURA 1210, 1220, 1230 Corequisite: NURA 2110, 2120, 2130


NURA - 2110 MENTAL HEALTH DEVIATIONS
[2 hours] Application of nursing process in meeting mental health needs of individuals in diverse settings. Utilization of therapeutic communication skills and psychiatric treatment modalities in treating common emotional/behavioral disorders. Prerequisite: NURA 1210, 1220, 1230; TSBS 2100 Corequisite: NURA 2100, 2120, 2130


NURA - 2120 ADULT HEALTH DEVIATIONS III
[3 hours] The third of four adult health deviation courses, this course includes experiences in the nursing management of individuals/families with immunologic, hematologic, oncologic and neurologic health deviations. Prerequisite: TSBS 2100; NURA 1210, 1220, 1230 Corequisite: NURA 2100, 2110, 2130


NURA - 2130 CLINICAL PRACTICUM III
[3 hours] Clinical practice involves collaborating with various members of the health care team in planning and implementing care for adult individuals with acute or chronic health deviations. Prerequisite: NURA 1210, 1220, 1230; TSBS 2100 Corequisite: NURA 2100, 2110, 2120


NURA - 2200 NURSING AGENCY
[1 hour] Capstone course where the major emphasis is preparing the student for beginning professional practice. Leadership/management skills as well as legal, political, economic, personal and professional issues are discussed. Prerequisite: NURA 2100, 2110, 2120, 2130 Corequisite: NURA 2210, 2220, 2230


NURA - 2210 ADULT HEALTH DEVIATIONS IV
[3 hours] Last of four adult health deviation courses. The focus includes experiences in the nursing management of individuals/families/ groups with self-care deficits requiring critical, acute, subacute and rehabilitative care. Prerequisite: NURA 2100, 2110, 2120, 2130 Corequisite: NURA 2200, 2220, 2230


NURA - 2220 HEALTH DEVIATIONS OF THE DEVELOPING FAMILY
[2 hours] Health deviations affecting the childbearing/child-rearing family. Prerequisite: NURA 2100, 2110, 2120, 2130 Corequisite: NURA 2200, 2210, 2230


NURA - 2230 CLINICAL PRACTICUM IV
[2 - 4 hours] Clinical practice with all age groups experiencing complex physiological health deviations in diverse settings. Includes a leadership/management experience in long term care and caring for groups of patients. Prerequisite: NURA 2100, 2110, 2120, 2130 Corequisite: NURA 2200, 2210, 2220


NURA - 2990 INDEPENDENT STUDY
[1 - 4 hours] A course designed to provide educational opportunities in a specialized academic area under the direct supervision of a faculty member.
