SOSC - 1200 THE AMERICAN POLITICAL SYSTEM
[3 hours] This course focuses on the constitutional structure, major governmental institutions, political processes of the American political system, and on selected contemporary issues.


SOSC - 1210 CONTEMPORARY WORLD PROBLEMS
[3 hours] This course focuses on selected current issues in world affairs with emphasis on the role, options, and responsibilities of the United States.


SOSC - 1400 MARRIAGE AND THE FAMILY
[3 hours] This course examines various aspects and forms of intimate human relationships in their social context.


SOSC - 2400 WOMEN'S ROLES: A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE
[3 hours] The course focuses on the current and evolving social, economic, and political status of women in the United States and selected non-Western societies. For both men and women students.


SOSC - 2920 HONORS READINGS IN SOCIAL SCIENCES
[3 hours] Examination of basic topics in the Social Sciences through reading and discussion of classic texts and contemporary research. Topics may vary with each offering. Prerequisite: Approval of Department Honors Committee


SOSC - 2980 SPECIAL TOPICS IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCES
[1 - 4 hours] An examination of a specialized topic in the social sciences. May be repeated for different specialized topics. Prerequisite: ENGL1100 or ENGL1110


SOSC - 2990 INDEPENDENT STUDY
[1 - 4 hours] This course provides students the opportunity for individualized, supervised study in an area of the social sciences. Permission of the instructor and department chairperson required.
