Department of Curriculum and Instruction

Students in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction pursue baccalaureate programs and initial State of Ohio licensure in Early Childhood, Middle Childhood, Adolescent and Young Adult, and Multi-Age teaching.

Art Education (Multi-Age)

The Art program prepares students for teaching art at all levels (ages 3-21/grades PreK-12).

Adolescent

The Adolescent program prepares students to teach junior high and high school in a single academic area Integrated Language Arts, Integrated Mathematics, Integrated Social studies, Integrated Science, Earth Science, Life Science or Physical Science (ages 12-21/grades 7-12).

Early Childhood Education

The Early Childhood Education programs prepare students to work with typically and atypically developing infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergartners and primary students in a variety of settings (ages 3-8/grades PreK-3).

Middle Childhood Education

The Middle Childhood Education program prepares students to teach middle grade students in elementary, middle, and junior highs in two subject areas Reading and Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies and/or Science (ages 9-14/grades 4-9).

Music Education (Multi-Age)

The program in Music prepares students for teaching music at all levels (ages 3-21/grades PreK-12).

Foreign Language Education (Multi-Age)

The Foreign Languages program prepares students for teaching French, German and Spanish at all levels (ages 3-21/grades PreK-12).


Program Requirements

For all single degree programs, the student must complete 128 -134 total hours. With dual degree programs, a students must complete 144 -150 total hours. Dual-degree programs leading to teacher licensure for Adolescent and Young Adult Science will exceed 150 semester hours. Students should see an adviser for additional information on specific program requirements.
