[4 hours]  A chemistry course for the laboratory technician with a focus on hands-on chemical technology.  Topics covered include measurement, atomic-structure, chemical bonding, stoichiometry, solutions, acid-base theory.  Corequisite: MATH 1320

CHMT - 1410  COLLEGE CHEMISTRY I LABORATORY
[1 hour]  Laboratory activities complementing material covered in CHMT 1400.   Prerequisite: CHMT 1410; Co-requisite: CHMT 1800

CHMT - 1800   COLLEGE CHEMISTRY II
[4 hours]  A Chemistry course for the laboratory technician with a focus on  hands-on chemical technology skills.  Topics covered include equilibrium, kinetics, electrochemistry, nuclear  chemistry.  Prerequisite: CHMT 1400

CHMT - 1810   COLLEGE CHEMISTRY II LABORATORY
[1 hour]  Laboratory activities complementing material covered in CHMT 1800.   Prerequisite: MATH 1320; Co-requisite: CHMT 1400

CHMT - 2010   INTRODUCTION TO ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY
[3 hours]  An introduction to Analytical Chemistry for laboratory technicians.  Topics include gravimetric, volumetric, and instrumental methods of analysis.  The course includes sampling and sample preparation, statistics, quality assurance, and computer integration into the laboratory.  Prerequisite: CHMT 1800  Corequisite: CHMT 2020

CHMT - 2020   ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY LABORATORY
[2 hours]  A comprehensive laboratory course for laboratory technicians in  Analytical Chemistry that covers most of the major skill areas required in a modern commercial analytical chemistry  laboratory.  Prerequisite: CHMT 1800  Corequisite: CHMT 2010

CHMT - 2120   ORGANIC CHEMISTRY FOR TECHNICIANS
[3 hours]  An introduction to organic chemistry for the laboratory technician.  Topics covered include alkanes, alkenes,  alkynes, cycloalkanes, aromatics, alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, ether, thiols, carboxylic acids, amines and  amides.  Mechanisms and instrumental applications will be introduced.  Prerequisite: CHMT 180

CHMT - 2400   WATER CHEMISTRY
[3 hours]  Current physical, chemical, and biological methods for the analysis of water and wastewater.  Individual  operation and mechanics of water treatment units are studied.  Prerequisite: CHMT 1400

CHMT - 2800   CHEMISTRY TECHNICIAN CO-OP
[1 - 4 hours]  A course designed for the Chemical Technology student to apply learned skills in an actual work setting.   Permission of instructor.

CHMT - 2940   INTERNSHIP
[1 - 4 hours]  An unpaid internship in the Chemical Technologist�s area or area of major interest.  Prerequisite: Permission of instructor

CHMT - 2990   INDEPENDENT STUDY
[1 - 4 hours]   Individual or small group study of related topic of interest to students in the area of Chemical Technology. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor
