[3 hours] Survey, analysis and preparation of appropriate vocal
music for solo, small and large ensembles. Includes keyboard proficiency component and keyboard technology. Prerequisite: MUS 2580 or

MED - 3350 MIDDLE GRADES MUSIC METHODS FOR MUSIC MAJORS
[3 hours] Topics: Adolescent voices, advanced music literacy, appreciation,
composition, classroom instruments. Projects: Accompanying proficiency, basic series analysis, comparative methodology, curriculum integration.
Field experience required. Prerequisite: Completion of Music Education second year criteria.
MED - 3400 SKILLS AND METHODS FOR TEACHING MUSIC IN THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR ELEMENTARY EDUCATION MAJORS

Development of singing and keyboard skills, and music literacy. Techniques for developing children�s singing voices and eurhythmics.
Sequencing instruction, developing objectives, presentation of music concepts, and evaluation of music learning. Prerequisite: Sophomore

MED - 4950 WORKSHOP IN MUSIC EDUCATION
[1 - 6 hours] A workshop developed around topics of interest and concern for
preservice teachers and other education personnel. Practical application of workshop topics will be emphasized. Students have the
option of receiving P/NC for workshops.
MED - 4990 INDIVIDUAL STUDY IN MUSIC EDUCATION FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

provide a student with the opportunity to work individually on professional interests and concerns under the direction of the faculty of the

MED - 5330 ADVANCED INSTRUMENTAL METHODS
[3 hours] Rehearsal techniques and teaching strategies for the public school
instrumental music teacher. Designed to enhance the effective teaching of fundamental musical skills through hands-on experiences.

[3 hours] The impact of historical, sociological, and philosophical
influences on various music curricula, past and present. Integration of skill development and content learning for designing comprehensive

[3 hours] Theory and techniques for teaching of musical skills. Sequences for
