TSBS - 0910   PRINCIPLES OF BIOLOGIC SCIENCES
[2 hours] A review of basic principles of biologic sciences. Course is offered as a 71/2 week module.

TSBS - 1010   INTRODUCTION TO BIOLOGY
[3 hours]  Review of biological principles and terminology applicable to programs in Health Technologies and Nursing.

TSBS - 1020   INTRODUCTION TO BIOLOGY LABORATORY
[1 hour]  General problem-solving experiments using the framework of botany, microbiology, anatomy, physiology, ecology, and pathology.

TSBS - 1110   HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY I
[3 hours]  Basic biochemistry, structure and function of the cell, tissue types, integumentary, skeletal, muscular and  nervous systems.  Includes special senses.

TSBS - 1120   HUMAN ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY I LAB
[1 hour]  Study of terminology, sections, and histology, including epithelial, connective nerve, and muscle tissues. Brain and eye  dissections.  Study of human adult skeleton; comparisons of fetal and adult skull.  Use of dissecting and other software.

TSBS - 1130   HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY II
[3 hours]  Structure and function of endocrine, digestive, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic, urinary and reproductive tracts.

TSBS - 1140   HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY II LAB
[1 hour]  Histology studies, normal and pathological. Use of computer-interfaced spirometry and EKG, as well as of dissecting software. Urinalysis; blood pressure exercises.  Stages of fetal development. Heart and rat dissections.

TSBS - 1220   NUTRITION
[2 hours]  A study of nutrition and its role in promoting good health  throughout the life cycle, including the composition of food, and the various functions of food in the body�s metabolism.

TSBS - 1230   NUTRITION LAB
[1 hour]  Basic lab studies of nutrition, including food analyses, RDA  requirements, and other topics.

TSBS - 2320   ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
[3 hours]  The degradation of the ecosystem associated with a widespread rapidly changing technology and human population increases is studied.  Includes ecosystems resource and land use, and energy conversions relating to air, water, soil and biota.

TSBS - 2330   ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE LAB
[1 hour]  Basic interdisciplinary environmental lab course, including such topics as population growth, habitat diversity, comparisons of fossil and atomic fuels, air and water pollution, and other assorted topics.  Corequisite: TSBS 2320

TSBS - 2990   INDEPENDENT STUDY
[1 - 4 hours]  Individual or small group study of related topics of interest to students in the technical areas of biological and medical sciences. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor
