VED - 2010   OCCUPATION COMPETENCY EXAM - TECHNOLOGY
[1 - 12 hours]  Written examination covering technology.  NOTE: Students must have completed 30 semester hours at UT before the examination credit can be applied toward the bachelor of vocational education degree.      Prerequisite: 30 hrs. at UT

VED - 2990   INDEPENDENT FIELD EXPERIENCE
[1 - 4 hours]  The student will contract with the faculty member assigned to set up an independent field experience that will enable the student to meet personal career objectives.

VED - 3010   TEACHING OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS
[3 hours]  The development of pedagogical skills designed to assist the beginning teacher with basic classroom techniques and strategies.

VED - 3020   TEACHING OCCUPATIONAL KNOWLEDGE
[3 hours]  The development of vocational teaching concepts, designed to assist teachers with the presentation of occupational knowledge.  Prerequisite: VED 3010

VED - 3030   METHODS OF TEACHING VOCATIONAL EDUCATION I
[2 hours]  The development and application of vocational teaching methods and strategies in an actual classroom/laboratory situation or under a simulated classroom setting .    Prerequisite: VED 3010, 3020

VED - 3040   METHODS OF TEACHING VOCATIONAL EDUCATION II
[2 hours]  The continued development and application of vocational teaching methods and strategies in an actual classroom/laboratory situation or under a simulated classroom setting.    Prerequisite: VED 3030

VED - 3060   OCCUPATIONAL TEST DEVELOPMENT
[3 hours]  Study and construction of psychomotor, cognitive, affective and perceptual evaluation instruments for use in laboratory and related technology classes.  Prerequisite: VED 3010, 3020

VED - 3080   STRATEGIES FOR TEACHING TECHNICAL THEORY
[3 hours]  An analysis of occupational skills to identify mathematics, science and communication competencies and apply reflective analysis to teaching affective, cognitive and psychomotor skills using a results  oriented teaching model.  Prerequisite: VED 3010, 3020

VED - 3100   CURR CONSTRUCTION IN VOC-TECH ED
[3 hours]  Development of knowledge and skill in competency based education to include occupational analysis, selection of course content, course of study and instructional guide development, and credentialling students.  Required for certification.  Prerequisite: VED 3010, 3020

VED - 3120   CONSTRUCTION & UTILIZATION OF LEARNING ACTIVITIES PACKED
[3 hours]  This course provides the vocational teacher with the skills to develop and utilize individualized competency based learning activity packets from a previously developed curriculum.      Prerequisite: VED 3010, 3020

VED - 3160   UPDATING OCCUPATIONAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGES
[1 - 6 hours]  This course provides the student with an opportunity to upgrade occupational proficiency and technical knowledge through business or industrial experiences or supplemental training for the purpose of improving instruction.      Prerequisite: VED 3010, 3020

VED - 3910   SEMINAR FOR VOCATIONAL TEACHERS
[3 hours]  The study of current developments in specific areas of instruction with the development of course materials as assigned.  Prerequisite: VED 3030, 3040
VED - 4020   OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY & LIABILITY
[3 hours]  The study of occupational health and safety hazards.  Regulations applicable to school, business and industry will be examined.  Strategies to minimize exposure to and prevent injuries will be developed.

VED - 4040   LABORATORY ORGANIZATION AND MANAGEMENT
[3 hours]  Designed for laboratory instructors to increase their operating efficiency and effectiveness.  Focus is on arranging the facility and controlling materials, supplies, learning activities and maintenance through various system approaches.

VED - 4060   FOUNDATIONS OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
[3 hours]  A study of social issues, historical events, and philosophies that provide a basis for the development of vocational education.  Principles and their implications are also reviewed.

VED - 4080   PRINCIPLES OF SCHOOL-TO-WORK TRANSITION
[3 hours]  Designed for educators and employers to increase their knowledge and skill to build partnerships between schools and business, industry and labor.  Examines transition concepts, components, implementation strategies and models.

VED - 4100   ORGANIZATION, ADMINISTRATION & REGULATION OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
[3 hours]  Study of the organization and administration of vocational education at the national, state and local levels, noting relationships existing between the agencies.

VED - 4120   SUPERVISION OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
[3 hours]  Development of supervisory skills in vocational education. Stresses human relations, team building, basic management and leadership skills in program inauguration and operations.

VED - 4140   COOPERATIVE EDUCATION
[2 hours]  Designed to present the basic fundamentals of establishing and operating a cooperative occupational program.

VED - 4160   CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT & TEACHING CO-OPERATIVE EDUCATION
[3 hours]  A study of cooperative education curriculum and instructional methods,  including the coordination of classroom-related instruction with on-the-job experience based on the commonalties of a variety of occupations.  Prerequisite: VED 4140

VED - 4180   PROMOTION, RECRUITMENT & RETENTION IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
[3 hours]  A study of vocational education in the community, and promotion, recruitment and retention strategies, including school publics, theories of community power structure and the vocational school in a democratic society.

VED - 4220   ADVISOR TRAINING - YOUTH LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
[3 hours]  Designed for teachers and supervisors to increase their skills and knowledge of youth leadership development.  Focus is on advising a student vocational organization and includes both establishing and maintaining functions.

VED - 4570   TEACHING ADULT LEARNERS IN VOC ED
[3 hours]  A study of the unique learning and teaching characteristics associated with adult learners, adult learning theory, learner characteristics, physical effects of aging, and strategies consistent with adult learning styles.

VED - 4910   DIRECTED RESEARCH IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
[1 - 3 hours]  Investigations in such fields as community surveys to determine needs for vocational education, industrial surveys, follow-up studies of vocational graduates, developing content of shop-related technology courses.

VED - 4930   SUPERVISED TEACHING
[3 - 8 hours]  A planned field experience held in public school classrooms under the direction of University supervisors. Practicing teacher observed planning, presenting and demonstrating teaching skills and managing the laboratory and classroom..  Prerequisite: VED 3010, 3020, 3030, 3040, 3100

VED - 4940   PRACTICUM-INTERN IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
[1 - 3 hours]  Observation and supervised experiences will be offered in a variety of appropriate settings, or students will be assigned to work as interns in a school setting under the joint supervision of school and university personnel.  Prerequisite: VED 4100, 4120

VED - 4950   WORKSHOP IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
[1 - 5 hours]  Workshops developed around topics of interest and concern for preservice and inservice teachers and other education personnel.  Practical applications of workshop topics are emphasized.

VED - 4980   PROBLEMS IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
[1 - 5 hours]  A course developed around topics of interest and concern to inservice teachers.  Stresses solution and resolution of educational problems occurring within selected districts.

VED - 4990  INDIVIDUAL STUDY IN VOCATIONAL EDUCATION FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS
[1 - 3 hours]  Individual study is designed to provide the opportunity to work individually on professional problems under the direction of the faculty in vocational education.
