Cardiovascular Nursing Simulations
Cardiovascular Nursing Simulations was written by Joanne Guyton-Simmons, R.N., Ph.D. and Julie Christy-Givin, R.N., B.S.N. at the University of Toledo. The program consists of two patient simulations that require the user to answer open-ended questions. The purpose of this method is to teach critical decision-making skills to nursing students and new nurses. The simulations are accomplished through the use of video, graphics, images, and audio.
Media Samples from the program:
 |
Physical Assessment Screen During the physical assessment, the user receives some initial patient information. |
 |
Question Screen After receiving some information about the patient's case, the user is prompted with an open-ended question. The user is required to type in an answer. |
 |
Response Screen After the user types in an answer, a response tells if the answer is correct of incorrect and why. |
 |
Retrieved Information Sample The user may also request information related to the patient's case such as the Doctor's Order Sheet. |
 |
Expert Nurse The expert nurse can assist the user if the user does not enter the correct answer within five minutes or if the user decides to get help immediately. |
Video Sample (5.9MB)
Video of the simulated patient is used to provide a more realistic environment.
Audio Sample (704K)
Fluid in the patient's lungs is heard through an audio file.
