Ticker Test is an application developed by our team of software engineers to replace the original Stress Thallium Analysis program written in Fortran for a VAX/VMX operating system. The team set forth to redesign the system in January 1996. Several improvements were made to the system including a new user interface, image contrast tool, statistics calculations, significant reduction in the analysis computation time, and on-line reports. Ticker Tester relies on a database created by General Electric Corporation's M-Link software. The Stress Thallium images are directly transferred to a Macintosh workstation using M-Link.
A Stress Thallium test is an exercise test whereby the heart's ability to tolerate exercise activity can be monitored along with visual data produced by a high tech camera. The patient is given an injection of a small amount of radioactive material, Thallium-201, which enables their heart to be photographed or imaged. IV Persantine Stress Thallium is a specialized type of stress test where the heart's ability to tolerate increased blood flow can be monitored, and visual data is also obtained by imaging your heart with a high tech camera.
The original Fortran source code was ported into C++ on the Macintosh platform. Ticker Tester handles all the components for analyzing Stress Thallium and IV Persantine Stress Thallium scintigrams, including region of interest definition, analysis, and displaying a report on the screen that may be printed on any network configured printer.
