    How to Create Links

    Turning text or image into a Link

    There are two types of links:

    • Internal: Any page that is maintained in the Content Management System or is part of the University of Toledo website.
    • External: Any page that takes you out of the University of Toledo website

    Making an Internal Link

    • Select or highlight desired text or image.
    • Click the Link button



    • Select the Internal tab along the top of the window.
    • Navigate to the page you would like to link to through the folders listed on the left
    • Click the checkbox next to the file name
    • In the Target drop-down menu, select Current Window
    • Click OK

     

     

    Making an External Link

    Internet Explorer users:

    • Highlight the text you want to link, press CTRL + K. 
    • A Hyperlink window will appear
    • Type in or Paste the URL you want to link to.

    Another way to link externally:

    • Copy the URL of the site you are linking to
    • Paste into the body of the page 
    • Highlight the URL

       
    • Re-type the text that you want to appear as the Link.

     

    Linking a PDF or other document

    Before you link to a pdf, you must Upload the document to your PDFs folder. Learn how to Upload

    • Select or highlight desired text
    • Click the Link button



    • Select the Internal tab along the top of the window.
    • Navigate to your department's PDFs folder
    • Click the checkbox next to the file name 
    • In the Target drop-down menu, select New Window
    • Click OK




    Creating E-mail Links

    • Type in or Paste the e-mail address into your page.

       

    • The CMS will recognize it as an e-mail address and automatically make it a link.
