    What are Contribution Documents?

Contribution documents are a special kind of asset that store content in a pre-defined set of fields. Contribution documents store content only, which can be formatted using layout files and, if allowed, the Collage contribution editing view.

All contribution documents are XML files, with custom tags that are based on the fields that are defined in the asset definition file. When you deploy a contribution asset, Collage generates an HTML version.

    Contribution Document Types

All contribution documents must belong to a contribution document type category. Typically, a project manager or administrator will pre-define a set of contribution document types, such as press releases, tech briefs, or white papers. Each type has its own content structure definition and uses a layout file to define formatting and template elements. When creating new contribution documents, content contributors must choose which type they will create.
