uNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO/COMMUnITY PARTNERS REGIONAL TEACH-IN

THE FACTS

Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) impacts families, schools, worksites and communities across Northwest Ohio.

OUD is a complex brain disease, not a choice or a moral failing, and the brains of individuals suffering from this disease are not allowing them to think rationally. By reducing stigma (negative stereotypes) and misconceptions, we can save lives.

As spiritual leaders, you know first-hand the effects of the opioid epidemic within the families you serve. The ripple effects, such as the change in family structure, the increase in child abuse and neglect, and the loss of life due to overdoses and death, has directly impacted the spiritual health of our community. Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) is impacting families, schools, churches and businesses throughout the Toledo region. Ohio is ranked #2, behind West Virginia, for the number of opioid deaths.
