Higher Education Program

Higher Education Ambassadors

Higher Education Ambassadors are current students pursuing either a Master’s or Doctoral degree in the Higher Education Program at The University of Toledo. They serve as diplomats for The University of Toledo’s Higher Education Program, through leadership and service.

Meet the Ambassadors:

Melissa Hansen is a 2014 Master’s in Higher Education candidate at The University of Toledo. She has been the Clerkship and Curriculum Coordinator in the Department of Medicine on the Health Science Campus since December 2010. She works with UT’s third and fourth year medical students as they embark on their clinical experiences in Internal Medicine. Melissa received a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies at The University of Toledo, and plans to pursue a Ph.D. In Higher Education as well.

Alex White is a Higher Education graduate student at the University of Toledo. She received her bachelors in Psychology with a double minor in History and Political Science from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. She grew up in Fieldon, Illinois and loves to travel and find new experiences. During her undergrad, Alex was extremely involved in Greek Life and loved every minute of it. Through Alex’s involvement she was able to form meaningful relationships with her advisor and other administrators on APSU’s campus. These relationships and experiences had such an impact that she began to consider a career in Higher Education. This past summer Alex accepted an internship with Lehigh University working within the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs and enjoyed every minute of it. Alex could not wait for graduate school and so far her journey has been very positive. Upon completion of graduate school Alex wishes to work within Greek Life or Student Involvement promoting professional development and leadership for students. Alex currently works as a graduate assistant for the University of Toledo’s Higher Education Program. When not in school or working on homework Alex loves to spend time with her two favorite furry friends, Marley a Puggle and Arwyn a Shiba Inu. Aside from her pets, Alex enjoys spending time with her boyfriend and two families in Illinois and Utah. Alex loves to snowboard, travel and be outdoors. She is currently serving as the Executive Secretary for our Higher Education Student Association (HESA) and is an Ambassador for The Placement Exchange. Alex enjoys talking with students and helping students find ways to get involved.
