Bachelor of Arts Degree in Visual Art
The Bachelor of Arts program in visual art provides the student with a solid foundation in art through
introductory courses in drawing, design and the history of art, and it offers study three areas of studio
art as well as advanced work in art history. The major components of the curriculum are:
Foundational Art Studies – 15 credit hours
Core Art Studies – 12 credit hours
Advanced Art Studies – 15 credit hours
Required Support courses (including BA Thesis Project) – 6 credit hours
Related Requirements & Art History – 18 credit hours
General Education Requirements – 58 credit hours
Total – 124 credit hours

Bachelor of New Media Design Practices
The Bachelor of New Media Design Practices (NMDP) program provides a unique degree track,
incorporating the new media curriculum and adding externship and internship components to provide
hands-on experiential and practice learning, in combination with the creative and theoretical new
media course offerings of the department. The major components of the curriculum are:
Foundational Art Studies – 15 credit hours
NMDP Core Studies – 12 credit hours
Advanced Art Studies – 12 credit hours
NMDP Courses (externship, etc.) – 11 credit hours
Technical Related Courses – 12 credit hours
Related Requirements & Art History – 18 credit hours
General Education Requirements – 49 credit hours
Total – 129 (124?) credit hours

Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Studio Art
The Bachelor of Fine Arts program, which may be entered through successful application to the studio
art faculty, provides the student, who is preparing for professional commitment to the field of studio art,
with a more intensive educational experience. The major components of the curriculum are:
Foundational Art Studies – 15 credit hours
Core Art Studies – 15 credit hours
Advanced Art Studies – 24 credit hours
Required Support Courses (BA Thesis Project, etc.) – 9 credit hours
Related Requirements & Art History – 18 credit hours
General Education Requirements – 49 credit hours
Total – 130 credit hours
