Music at UT Humans have been making music for almost our entire existence. It began with beating a rhythm on a log and chanting to invoke divine action. Music is essential to our daily lives. It is used for dancing, religious worship, films, entertainment, cultural identification, mood altering, relaxation and much more. Music gives us a way to express ourselves. Can you imagine what life would be like without it? UT's music program gives students the opportunities to perform, compose, critique, learn about and listen to music. Faculty and advisers help develop students as musicians so they can achieve their individual music goals. Music majors are accepted into the program through auditions. Students have many facilities available to them at The University of Toledo. There are two concert halls, a state-of-the-art audio and MIDI recording studio, a student computer lab and practice rooms. Students can participate in ensembles such as orchestra, wind ensemble, concert band, chorale, men's and women's chorus, jazz band, marching band, guitar ensemble, opera workshop and chamber ensembles. What to expect when you graduate Music is one of the world's largest industries. Graduates work in music performance, education, business, merchandising, publishing, management, entertainment, composition, sound technology and more. Arts and Sciences is an academically diverse college that offers 43 different majors and over 1,600 different courses each year from African-American History to Zen Philosophy. Its programs emphasize the critical thinking and communication skills necessary for every job in today’s market.	Group campus tours are available Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m., and on Saturday at 11:15 a.m., year round, with the exception of national holidays. Individual admission appointments are available by request.
