Alumni Success Stories
Meg Sciarini, who graduated Fall 2010 with dual bachelor’s degrees Film and Art, is working for MGM, with the Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil as a projection technician. Her first show will be “Viva ELVIS.” She began her new job March 28, 2011.
David Eichenberg, BFA Art graduate won Third Prize in the BP Portrait Award 2010 for Tim II. David’s painting was selected from a record 2,177 entrants, submitted by artists from around the world, the 2010 exhibition presented only fifty-eight selected works.
Marc Folk, BFA Art, graduate is currently the Executive Director of the Arts Commission of Greater Toledo. In 2009 Marc received the prestigious Ohio Arts Council sponsored Governor's Awards for the Arts in Ohio, Arts Administration
Laura Gibson, a BFA Art graduate currently works for Anatomical Travelogue, a medical visualization company in New York. Laura translates real data sets from MRIs and CT scans into 3D visuals that help to explain medical conditions and procedures. Laura has served as a Senior Project Manager, where she developed and produced a full-length book publication, animations, and interactive websites for the company’s web portal, TheVisualMD.com

Elizabeth Herren (BFA Studio Art, concentration New Media, 2010) started her MFA program in Photography at U of Cincinnati, Ohio U in the Fall.
Courtney McManus (BFA Studio Art, concentration New Media, 2008) has begun her MFA in Photography at Florida State University.
Brian Carpenter (BA in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration photography and sculpture) is finishing his MFA in Photography at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Brian was awarded the prestigious Cranbrook Academy of Art Merit Scholarship in 2011.
Cliff Harvey and Beverly Norman Former UT students Cliff Harvey and Beverly Norman had work selected for the nationally juried exhibition “The Now Wow Project” at Hudson Gallery in Sylvania, OH.

Courtney Macklin (BFA New Media 2009) and Tara Outten currently work at the Toledo Museum of Art.
Dave Myers, (BFA Studio Art with concentration in Sculpture, 1996) received his MFA in Sculpture at the University of Washington, Seattle,WA and now owns a successful gallery, MYORIAN GALLERY, Bainbridge Island, WA with Kelly Asadorian, (UT B.ED, 1996).
Eric Sobel (BA Art History) is now in graduate school studying Popular Culture at BGSU
Britney McIntire (BFA Studio Art with a concentration in painting) and Elizabeth Herren (BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in New Media) had work selected for the national juried exhibition “Flamingos, Dust Bunnies, and Decay” at Space 237 Gallery in Toledo in Fall 2011.
Chelsey Hammersmith (BA Studio Art with concentration in metals 2009) was accepted to BGSU’s MFA program with an assistantship, and started the two year masters program this fall. She will be studying under renowned Metalsmith Tom Muir. She is currently working for the Toledo Museum of Art in the Metalsmithing studio with artist Hans Ruebel and will also be showing in a three person show this may at the Parkwood Gallery in Toledo, OH.

Julie Cikra, Chelsey Hammersmith, Clifton Harvey and Erin Morlock Former art students Julie Cikra, Chelsey Hammersmith, Clifton Harvey and Erin Morlock had their work featured in Space 237’s nationally competitive exhibition “Allegories” in 2011.
Amanda Grossjean (BFA Studio Art and BA Art Education, 2004) was recently featured on the cover of Toledo Free Press along with a 2 page spread. She is an art teacher and professional portrait painter.
Leslie Adams (BFA Studio Art with a concentration in Drawing 1989) was awarded first prize and a future solo show at the Toledo Museum of Art for her self portrait in the 2011 Toledo Area Artists Exhibition. Her portrait of Lynne Loftis was recently acquired by the Ella Sharp Museum of Art and History. Her work also received recognition in the Portrait Society of America's Members Only competition and her portrait of Michael Shane Neal has received the First Place Award in the prestigious Salon Exhibition at the Art Renewal Center.
Amy Rublaitis (BFA Studio Art with a concentration in Drawing, 2007) received her MFA in Drawing from the New York Academy of Art in 2010.
Julie Webster (BFA Studio Art with a concentration in Ceramics) is now the co-owner of Toledo’s new art supply “The Art Supply Depot”
Nicloe Bergman (BA in Art Education) is now an art teacher at Kateri Catholic Academy in Toledo, OH.
Susan Castillo (BA in Art with a concentration in New Media) currently works as a photographer, artist, and graphic artist.
Chelsea Younkman, started her MFA at BGSU's MFA program in painting with a half tuition scholarship and a teaching assistantship. She also had work exhibhited in the Toledo Museum of Art’s Toledo Area Artists Exhibition in 2011.

Daniel Rante, (BFA, 2003) is now working as an assistant professor of art at Wright State University.Since receiving her MFA in 2006 from the University of Iowa, she has been actively exhibiting her work at national and international venues, including the International Print Center New York, China Sanbao Printmaking Exhibition, Hartnett Gallery at the University of Rochester. She has been awarded an Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award, OAC domestic residency at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Mass. and a Philadelphia Art Hotel residency. She joined Wright State University in 2009 as an Assistant Professor in printmaking and drawing.
Erin Morlock, BFA 2011 was accepted into the MFA program at the Art Institute of Boston, beginning in August 2012.
