The UT Department of Music provides a comprehensive education at the graduate and undergraduate level in classical and jazz music traditions and offers a variety of musical opportunities and experiences for the University community, the greater Toledo area, and the global community. The Department of Music is a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music, and its degree requirements are in accordance with the latest published regulations of that association.
UNDERGRADUATE MUSIC DEGREE PROGRAMS
Bachelor of Music - Performance:

The Bachelor of Music Education degree, for teaching licensure in instrumental, vocal or general music, is offered through the Judith Herb College of Education, Health Science and Human Service. Bachelor of Arts in Music
The Bachelor of Arts in Music degree is a liberal arts program that affords students
the opportunity to tailor their degree programs to their specifications by combining
other areas of interest with general music studies. This degree prepares students
for advanced study in music, for entrance into graduate music programs and for specialized
work in music. General requirements for this degree are available in the University Course Catalog. Your advisor can help you add the right courses to develop this degree to suit your
specific goals.
GRADUATE DEGREES IN MUSIC
Acceptance into graduate music degree programs requires acceptance by the UT Graduate
School, an extensive audition, diagnostic music theory and music history examinations,
an undergraduate GPS of at least 2.70, and three letters of recommendation. For more

Visits to the Music Department
Visits by students, parents, teachers and counselors are welcome and encouraged. Contact The Department of Music to request a visitation day which will be arranged to meet your specific interests. A meeting with a private teacher in the student's instrument or voice may also be arranged. In addition, tours of The University of Toledo can be arranged directly through Admissions.
