Concert Chorale - MUS 3140:001

The UT Concert Chorale is a select ensemble of 24-40 voices. The group sings the finest choral literature from the 16th throughout the 20th centuries including a cappella works, major compositions for chorus and large ensemble, folk songs, spirituals, and carols. The Chorale performs at least two major concert each semester, appears at conventions and takes an annual tour. Acceptance into the ensemble is through auditions which are held during the first two weeks of each semester. See the Concert Chorale web page for more information. Men's Chorus - MUS 3180:001

The Men's Chorus is a choir of 45-70 voices open to any male. Traditional male chorus literature along with Barbershop selections and extended works are performed. At least one concert is given each semester on campus with occasional outside performances. See the Men's Chorus web page for more information. Women's Chorus - MUS 3160:001

The University of Toledo Women’s Chorus is an ensemble of 40 to 60 members that is open to all women in the UT community. The class may be scheduled for 1 hour of credit. The choir sings a wide variety of music from historic to contemporary and from heavy to very light. The Women’s Chorus performs two concerts each semester with the other choirs within the Choral Department and may, from time to time, perform with the UT Symphony Orchestra. See the Women’s Chorus Web Page for more information.

The University of Toledo Opera Ensemble is currently comprised of about 15-20 members. Admission is by audition only. For more information about joining this ensemble, please contact the Director. The UT Opera Ensemble will hold three performances in the 2012-2013 academic year:

"Murder, Mayhem and the Medium" | November 9-10, 2012 | UT Center for Performing Arts Studio Theatre
A selection of macabre opera favorites followed by Menotti's opera "The Medium" in its entirety.

"UT Opera Winter Gala with Alumni & Guests" | Sunday, December 16, 2012 | Doermann Theater in University Hall
Program features a selection of opera favorites and beloved arias. Famous party scenes from "La Traviata," "Die Fledermaus," and "Carmen" will also highlight the program.  Performing with the UT Opera Ensemble will be guests Kim Buehler and Judy Dye, and UT alumni Margaret Mack, Anthony Ferrer, Ebone Waweru, Selina Perryman and Janet Ziegler. Piano accompaniment: Dr. Michael Boyd, Phil Clark & Nate Leonard.

"L'Orfeo" | March 15-16, 2013 | The Cloisters at the Toledo Museum of Art
UT Opera presents this late Renaissance/early Baroque opera from Claudio Monteverdi. It will be performed with live chamber accompaniment.
