My Theatre Degree
Thank you for considering The University of Toledo as the best place to pursue your degree in theatre! UT offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre as well as two minors programs. The BA in Theatre is offered through the University of Toledo Department of Theatre and Film, which is housed in the College of Visual and Performing Arts. We think you'll agree that UT is more than a place to graduate from, it's also a great place to begin your career. As a student, you will be taught by faculty committed to your success as a student and as an artist. Our faculty are wonderful teachers, but they are also accomplished working professionals in their own right. Visit our faculty page to learn more about them, where they have been and what they have done most recently.
As a student in the UT Department of Theatre and Film you will also have many opportunities to develop your craft outside the classroom. The department produces 4 plays per year in which theatre students are encouraged and expected to participate, either onstage or behind the scenes. Many of our students and productions have also competed successfully in the annual Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (Region II), winning awards for acting, directing, costume design, set design and more.
In addition, many of our students also take advantage of local theatre opportunities with professional theatre companies and venues in the area, such the The Toledo Repertoire Theatre, The Valentine Theatre, the Glacity Theatre Collective and others. Beyond the local area, many of our students have found internships and opportunities to study abroad across the the country and around the world. We encourage you to seek out these experiences as they will greatly enrich your degree program.
Students in the University of Toledo Department of Theatre and Film are invited and encouraged to join the UT chapter of Alpha Psi Omega, the National Theatre Honor Society. Through this organization, students will develop relationships with fellow students who will become future colleagues. Through a number of exciting and fun projects and creative efforts, members work to develop funding sources for competitions, educational experiences and other theatre activities. Contact Sean for meeting times and dates.
