    COPRES ~ Research Assistant, Pharmacology Department

    The Research Assistant contributes to the fulfillment of the university’s mission and vision by providing support to the Pharmacology/COP by conducting research and collection of data in support of the study of mechanisms by which polyphenols and antioxidants inhibit /suppress arthritis. The individual will accomplish this through complex laboratory/scientific experiments such as performing primary cell culture experiments, and dosing and handling of mice and rats.  The Research Assistant will also be responsible for ordering supplies, equipment maintenance and general maintenance of the laboratory.   

    Education/experience/licensing:

    ·         B.S./M.S. degree in Pharmacology or Toxicology required with preferred focus on biological sciences or applicable related sciences

    ·         familiarity with basic research design

    ·         computer proficiency related to research

    ·         2-3 years working experience in preclinical research lab, standardization of protocols, and scientific writing experience reflected by contribution in peer-reviewed publications

    ·         Experience in evaluating signaling pathways using Western immunoblotting, EMSA, immunoprecipitation and techniques such as cell staining, tissue processing, DNA/RNA isolation, and RT-PCR is highly desirable

    ·         Background in the field of arthritis and cardiovascular biology, culture of primary cells of human or animal origin is desired.
