Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (Surf)
A 10-week Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) is available within each of the four Ph.D. and M.S. in biomedical science tracks (cancer biology; cardiovascular and metabolic diseases; infection, immunity and transplantation; and neurosciences and neurological disorders). The SURF is intended for undergraduate students who are interested in biomedical research careers. Fellows work full time on a biomedical research project with graduate students and learn a variety of techniques and procedures while receiving hands-on experience in biomedical research. Fellows also participate in weekly seminars that cover topics related to scientific research and bioethics, such as how to succeed in graduate school, grant writing, and the biotech industry. Each fellow will receive $3,500 for the full-time research experience. For more information, visit http://hsc.utoledo.edu/grad/surf.html.
