Winter/Spring 2016 

Bridges - tv interview 
On January 10, 2016, Dr. Shanda Gore, associate vice president of equity, diversity and community engagement and chief diversity office, along with Catharine S. Eberly Center for Women Advisory Board Chair Jan Antal and Minority Business Assistance Center Counselor Mark Urrutia, were interviewed by Doni MIller on 13abc's Bridges. To view the interview, click here and watch episode 1/10/2016. 

Fall 2015

InnovateHER Business Competition 
On December 1, 2015, the UT Minority Business Development Center hosted a local round of a national competition administered by the US Small Business Administration. The InnovateHER Business Competition consisted of live business pitches where a panel of judges rated businesses on their business plans/products improving the lives of women and their families, the ability to be commercialized and fills a need in the marketplace.  Summer 2015

Minority Business Assistance Center - UT receives State Grant 
On July 1 2015, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the opening of the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC) at The University of Toledo on Scott Park Campus within the Minority Business Development Center. The university received this program after being rewarded a $355,000 grant from the Ohio Development Services Agency. Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur, Mayor Paula Hicks-Hudson, UT President Gaber and State of Ohio officials were in attendance and spoke at the ceremony.

Winter/Spring 2014 

Toledo Firefighter Recruitment
This year, the OEDC partnered with the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department to help recruit more minority and women to the fire department. Check out this interview from the WSPD Relevant University Show on April 28 for more information.

Race and Education Forum
Sponsored by the Blade and the Toledo Community Coalition, the OEDC hosted a Forum on Race and Education on January 9, 2014. Mr. David Johns, Executive Director, White House Initiative on Academic Excellence for African Americans, was the keynote speaker for this event that featured Dr. Jacobs, Dr. Durant, TPS Superintendent, UT Student Christopher Scott, UT Professor Dale Snauwaert, TPS' Dr. Hope Bland, BGSU's Susan Brown and Ashland University student Jonathan Locust. Click here to check out the Blade's coverage of this event.
