Adapted Physical Education Endorsement
![]() |
![]() |
The On-Line Graduate Endorsement in Adapted Physical Education is designed to prepare licensed physical educators to teach youth with disabilities in a variety of physical education / physical activity settings. In Ohio, successful completion of the coursework leads to recommendation for Ohio’s Adapted Physical Education endorsement. Courses may be applied to other State endorsements (as per State requirements). Applications are accepted throughout the year. Courses are offered on a fixed schedule each year. Want the master's degree?
The on-line nature of the endorsement provides accessibility to practicing professional physical educators who are unable to take traditional, on-campus graduate courses. The University of Toledo is regionally accredited by the North Central Association (NCA) and is authorized to offer degrees online.

To be considered for admission into the program, a candidate must:
- submit two documents to Dr. Sandt at the address below: (a) evidence of being a licensed physical educator and (b) statement of purpose. The statement of purpose should explain your interest in seeking the adapted physical education endorsement. Please be specific in how this endorsement supports your professional goals, and
- submit a completed online graduate application (special student status application) and pay the accompanying application fee. Students seeking to apply the courses from the endorsement to the Master of Education in Physical Education (Adapted Physical Education track) will need to complete the regular graduate student application form.
The on-line graduate Adapted Physical Education endorsement is offered by the Department of Early Childhood, Physical, and Special Education within the Judith Herb College of Education, Health Science, and Human Services.
