The John H. Russel Scholarship is awarded annually to a full-time graduate student in the Department of Educational Leadership, the College of Education. Preferably, candidates for the scholarship will come from the Higher Education program and will express an interest in pursuing a career in higher education following completion of their individualized programs of study.
The recipient will be selected by a committee consisting of the Chair of the Department of Educational Leadership, the Director of the John H. Russel Center for Educational Leadership, and one other member of the faculty of the College of Education, to be selected jointly by the two other committee members.
Applicants will be considered on the basis of their academic performance and the content of their written statement describing their aspirations in the field of higher education.
The recipient may hold this award for one year. All candidates for the award must apply yearly for consideration by the committee, including previous recipients of the Russel Scholarship. This award need not be made each year if suitable candidates do not apply.
