The Educational Administration and Supervision program develops effective and dynamic leaders for the field of PreK-12 education—leaders who are collaborative, resourceful, and creative problem solvers. EDAS students prepare for practice by mastering knowledge, practicing skills and developing moral and ethical standards for leadership. The program is designed to develop instructional leaders who can use data for school improvement to enhance student learning. Students have a well-balanced experience in leadership theory and research design as well as in the practical experiences that prepare them for the roles of leadership in America’s schools. Ohio licensure is available with additional coursework beyond the degree program.
The program is N.C.A.T.E. approved and follows the Ohio standards for principals which promote high levels of achievement for all students by:
- Creating a shared vision and clear goals
- Supporting the implementation of high quality standards based instruction
- Allocating resources and managing school operations for a safe, productive learning environment
- Establishing and sustaining collaborative learning and shared leadership
- Engaging parents and community in the educational process.
Master’s (M. E.) degree in Educational Administration and Supervision requires a minimum of 30 hours of coursework.
Educational Specialist’s (Ed. S.) degree in Educational Administration and Supervision requires 36 hours of coursework beyond the master’s degree and is designed for students who want additional coursework and/or licensure but do not want the doctoral degree.
The Education Doctorate (Ed. D.) degree in Educational Administration and Supervision requires 61 hours beyond the master’s degree and includes original research and dissertation.
