MASTER'S PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. PROMOTE STUDENT DEVELOPMENT: Design programs and individual interventions to promote student learning and development that are based on current research on student learning and development theories.

2. ASSESS OUTCOMES: Identify and assess appropriate program and/or student learning outcomes.

3. PROMOTE DIVERSE ENVIRONMENTS: Participate in and foster multicultural learning environments that embrace diverse participants and perspectives.

4. CONDUCT YOURSELF ETHICALLY: Integrate personal and professional ethics in all aspects of their practice.

5. TRACE HISTORICAL TRENDS: Articulate the ways historical and philosophical developments of the profession impact current practices in higher education and student affairs.

6. FOLLOW LAW & POLICY: Use their knowledge, understanding, and application of the law and policy to guide professional practice and resource allocation.

7. INTERPRET GOVERNANCE STRUCTURES: Interpret administrative, governing, and leadership structures, and create collaborative environments that support their own leadership and the leadership of others.

8. DEVELOP PROFESSIONALLY: Articulate ways they apply self-direction, self-reflection, and a thirst for learning on a path to a wholesome balance between professional and personal life. 

 

Doctoral PROGRAM LEARNING OUTCOMES

1. Develop and lead academic and/or service programs that promote student learning and development based on current research on student learning and development theories.

2. Develop appropriate personnel management strategies for the recruitment and retention of faculty and/or staff.

3. Resolve issues of governance and administration exercising informed leadership approaches. 

4.  Develop financial policies and practices consistent with emerging trends in higher education finance.

5.  Develop institutional policies and practices consistent with emerging trends in higher education law.

6.  Lead in writing assessment and evaluation reports.

7.  Analyze and synthesize information to create and present policy briefs in the field of higher education.

8.  Actively apply historical lessons in higher education to one’s future practice.

9.  Evaluate and critique how critical issues in higher education in other countries compare with similar issues in the US.

10.  Contribute to the research and scholarship in the literature in the area of higher education.
