Project DIRECT is a research and professional development project focused on Defining Itinerant Roles for Early Childhood Teachers (DIRECT). First funded in 1997 by the Office of Special Education Programs of the U.S. Department of Education, Project DIRECT staff currently works under contract to the Ohio Department of Education to support a range of activities. Project Direct staff authored the policy brief adopted in 2005 by the Ohio Department of Education that calls for a focus on consultation for Itinerant ECSE service delivery inline with the new Itinerant Policies and Guidelines. Project DIRECT staff will also coordinate Professional Development Opportunities and offer support to colleges and universities in Ohio that offer licensure or validation program in the area of ECSE.
