Career and Technical Education at UT

Businesses, industries, secondary schools, community colleges and technical colleges around the world are searching for individuals with the necessary skills to train and teach their employees and students. This is exactly what students majoring in career and technical education are prepared to do. If you can't decide between business and education, this might be the degree for you. Students are ready for careers as teachers, administrators or educational specialists in a variety of employment settings.

With experience in a vocational education area, UT is one of the few universities in the country that offers a baccalaureate degree in career and technical education. In addition, student teaching gives students the chance to work with outstanding teachers and gain real-world experience by actually teaching in a real career and technical education setting.

UT's Judith Herb College of Education understands the importance of finding the best practices for teaching and learning. Our concern for meeting the Standards for Teacher Licensure in Ohio is shown through our professors' constant research of human development and new understandings about the process and stages of a teacher's professional development.

What to expect when you graduate

Graduates in career and technical education can find many jobs preparing world-class work forces in manufacturing, construction, health and service organizations and more. They also can look for jobs in technical career preparation, school-to-work coordination and cooperative education.

Ohio has reciprocity with 47 other states allowing Ohio education graduates to work or relocate to almost anywhere in the country.

Group campus tours are available Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m., and on Saturday at 11:15 a.m., year round, with the exception of national holidays. Individual admission appointments are available by request. Individualized college or department visits are also available weekdays at 1:15 p.m. by appointment.
