    Foreign Language Education

Students majoring in foreign language education will not only learn the French, Spanish or German language, but will learn how to teach others how to speak them. In this program, students will also focus on the culture, traditions and famous figures of countries that speak these languages.

UT's foreign language education program combines classroom and field experiences. Student teaching is an opportunity to work with outstanding teachers and gain a "real-world" experience by actually teaching in a classroom. Also, the high numbers of foreign exchange students at UT offer a chance to interact and communicate with people from other countries and understand their cultures first hand. The city of Toledo is ethnically diverse itself. International celebrations and multicultural associations like the German-American Festival, the University International Center, the Alliance Francaise and the Guadalupe Center make Toledo a great place to experience different cultures.

What to expect when you graduate
After graduation, students can go on to teach their specified foreign language (French, Spanish or German). Job opportunities are good because the need for talented foreign language education teachers in the U.S. is likely to remain strong and continue to increase through 2010.
