Dr. Cancio is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Early Childhood, Physical, and Special Education. He has taught a range of courses at the undergraduate and graduate level related to behavior management, methods of teaching students with emotional/behavioral disorders (E/BD), introduction to special education, and supervision in special education. Dr. Cancio spent 15 years in the public school system before coming to higher education. His roles included: teacher of students with E/BD, special education supervisor, and director of special education. Current research interests include: stress, burnout, and attrition of teachers of students with E/BD; effective programming for students with E/BD, and effective behavior management strategies for students with E/BD.
